Thermal Protection Materials and Systems Branch
NASA Ames Research Center seeks to work closely with its industry partners to continue development of materials and systems capable of the aerothermal, size and weight demands of future NASA missions. Recent materials development has included work in Ultra High Temperature Ceramics (UHTC's), Foams, Ablators, and Tile and Coatings Upgrades. Applications include UHTC Development Programs, Shuttle Return-to-Flight (RTF), Mars Exploration Rover (MER), In-Space Propulsion (ISP) and X-37. Vital research is performed at NASA Ames in the field of thermal protection to enable NASA's exploration vision, and small businesses are encouraged to work with us.
