Projects in which we are involved
Recent projects include Shuttle Return to Flight (RTF), Mars Exploration Rover (MER), In-Space Propulsion and X-37. Upgrade work has also been completed on the TPSX database.

Tools we use
Analysis and design efforts are supported by a variety of commercial and in-house-developed software tools for predicting aerothermal environments, designing test and flight hardware, and performing testing for the thermal/mechanical response of TPS for both reusable and single-use (ablative TPS) applications.

The work done here is conducted in several laboratories, including the Ceramics Lab, Materials Characterization Lab, Thermal Protection Development Laboratory and the Ultra High Temperature Ceramic (UHTC) Laboratory.
